It is a specific product for the removal of copper residues accumulated inside the barrel of the Bore Tech family. Unlike other products it is not acidic, does not contain ammonia and therefore is not dangerous.
It simply acts by dissolving copper by electrolytic process; the copper with a neutral charge Cu0 is oxidized and subdivided into its Cu + 2 copper state. In the second phase the specially strengthened binding agent acts with Cu + 2 as a sort of magnet, attracting the copper particles on the pieces; these will come out of blue color until there will be deposits to be removed.
For this operation it is advisable to use a special pusher of aluminum pegs because the common brass ones contain copper, and inevitably they react and leave always blue-colored pieces.
The push-in insert Proof Positive Patch Jag by Bore Tech is specially made with gold-colored anodized aluminum (“it looks like brass but it is not”) in order not to contaminate the product. Always to overcome these problems of false coloration have been made special aluminum and nylon brushes called Nylon Rifle Brush.
